Not all canopies need to be heavy duty, and when you need temporary protection, medium-duty canopies will suffice. The more common medium-duty canopies are the blue tarps, which are handed out during hurricane and tornado seasons to be used as temporary patches on a home in case of any damage.

Polyethylene isn't the only material used to make canopies, and other materials used to make canopies include canvas, vinyl, and polypropylene. While both canvas and vinyl canopies are self-explanatory, polypropylene is usually used to make mesh canopies, which are used with a metal structure as garden canopies.
