Outdoor Shutters

Outdoor shutters have come a long way in the home improvement industry. They are very popular nowadays and can either be operable or non operable depending on the design of your house.

Houses that are built according to French plans, or are influenced by French architecture often feature these shutters. They are mainly used to keep harsh weather outside, and comfortable weather inside. It can mean keeping sealing the sun out of your rooms during hot sunny days or protecting your windows from being destroyed by strong winds.

Types of Shutters:

There are quite a number of outdoor shutters out in the market right now but the most popular are vinyl shutters. They are durable and come in a lot of designs and style. Vinyl outdoor shutters are considered to be very popular because they are cheapest of them.

Fiberglass shutters on the other hand is not the most popular but it is one of the strongest of them all. They are usually considered to be weather proof and storm proof because of their durability.

If you don't have any problem with budget though, you can always for the electric shutters which are the strongest of all but also one of the most expensive. This is perfect for those homes that live in area where natural disasters often happen.

Shutter Materials:

The material has to be durable. Teak, Spanish cedar or Honduran mahogany are used to make these shades because everything else would just simply crack, rot or swell due to moisture and water.

Uses and Advantages:


There is no better way to keep heat out on a sunny day than an exterior window shutter. It's effective, because it stops sunlight before going through your windows. It works by trapping the sunlight between two sheets of glass which then prevents it from entering your room directly.
